Meine Rede:
This War is a cruel, inhumane and illegal aggression by the authocrate Putin with the help of dictator Lukaschenka.
On behalf of the german Bundestag I would like to be clear: Germany stands firm with our ukrainian friends.
We have common dreams, values, ideals: Democracy, Freedom, Peace.
There is no other cause for this war, than the decisions of Vladimir Putin. He is responsible. This war can not be justified with NATO, ukrainian or any other decisions. And it is not a war of the russian and belarusian people. They are forced into a war by their repressive regimes.
This war began in 2014. There was no NATO Maidan, there was a Euro Maidan. This war started, when the free people of Ukraine stood up for democracy, freedom and a course towards the European Union.
Putins war is a war against Ukraine. But it is also a war against our common peace and security order in Europe. It is a war against a system for peace represented by this assembly.
We urge the russian regime to return to international law, to peace and cooperation.
As german Bundestag we urged our government to work hard with our Partners for a ceasefire and withdrawl of invading troops.
We urged our government to support the free and souvereign Ukraine with political, economical, financial and humanitarian aid and also constantly to look for more military equipment and further sanctions.
We urged our government to stand up for prosecution of warcrimes.
We urged our government for solidarity with our Partners in middle and eastern europe and european solidarity with refugees.
Personally, not only as chair of german delegation, but also as chair of german-ukrainian friendship group:Let us all stand with Ukraine, in their fight for their country, in their fight for our freedom.
And I appeal to the delegates from Russia and Belarus, especially also after what we heard today: Return to truth, return to international law, and to cooperation and peace instead of war and crime.
